Hi, I’m Mahad! My path to the Morpheus Clinic has been shaped by a longstanding interest in people: how we make decisions, how our environments influence us, and what allows us to make meaningful changes in our lives.
I’m currently completing a Master of Public Policy at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, after completing an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at the University of Guelph. My academic background has taught me to approach complicated questions with curiosity, to consider problems from different perspectives, and, perhaps most importantly, to listen before reaching conclusions.
Before joining Morpheus, much of my work was in research and community-based settings. I’ve interviewed migrant workers, lawyers, advocates, and researchers from across Canada as part of research on migration and institutional barriers, conducted labour and governance research at Osgoode Hall Law School, and served on the board of a community legal clinic. These experiences have given me the opportunity to speak with people from very different backgrounds and have reinforced how important it is for people to feel genuinely heard and understood.
At Morpheus, I’m particularly interested in the human side of the work. I enjoy getting to know people beyond the immediate reason that brought them through the door and understanding what they ultimately want to change or accomplish. I tend to be naturally curious and analytical, but I also value warmth, openness, and a good sense of humour. I try to make every interaction feel comfortable and straightforward.
Outside of work and school, I enjoy staying active, travelling, and learning about subjects well outside my usual areas of study. I’m almost always working toward something new, and I enjoy being around people who are doing the same.
